KMRL to plant 5000 trees on World Environment day

As part of its commitment to protect the mother earth and provide a sustainable travel alternative Kochi Metro Rail Limited has decided to plant 5000 more trees.

On World Environment day KMRL will kick-off the activity by planting saplings at Vyttila Metro Station at 10 am. Conservator of Forest C Meenakshi IFS will be the chief guest and she will inaugurate the event by planting  a sapling at the station premises.

Sustainability is the core value of KMRL activities. Our motto is to provide a greener and cleaner travel solution for the Kochiites.The drive to conserve the environment is not a one-day affair but an ongoing process. In the next year, we will be planting 5000 trees as part of the Water Metro project as well as the canal rejuvenation project.

KMRL will be joining hands with Adi Shankara Group of Institutions, Kalady for this initiative. The institute  will help KMRL in planting 2000 trees. KMRL has requested all its employees at the Corporate Office to plant at least one tree in their homes or in the premises where they live.Since its inception KMRL has planted 7,427 trees in Ernakulam district including 3550 trees planted along the container road, Kochi.
