KMRL resumes construction

Kochi Metro Rail Limited has commenced the construction activities which were stopped due to the corona outbreak and subsequent lockdown in the country. 

KMRL started the construction of Kochi Metro’s Phase 1 at Thykoodam to Petta and Phase 1 extension from Petta to SN Junction.

“We are strictly following all the protocols laid down by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the state government. KMRL officials are making extra effort to ensure proper transportation of workers, mandatory medical checkups, provision for hand wash and sanitizers and disinfection of work sites. Extra care is taken with regard to the safety at labour camps. The workers are also adhering to the social distancing practices and are wearing facial masks.”

A COVID Marshal has been deployed at each location. He/she is monitoring the entire activities. Thermal scanners are placed at entry points and all workers are being checked. Spitting in open is strictly prohibited and there is a strict ban on use of Gutka, Tambaku Paan etc.

There are designated areas for consuming food. There is also a complete ban on non-essential visitors at sites.
